NEW ZEALAND WINE EXPORTS
Indications are that New Zealand wine exports will exceed NZ$350 million in the year ended June 2004. On a value basis the United Kingdom market is still the largest at 39% of total exports but its share is continuing to be eroded by the growth in the US market which is now at 26%. Australia at 20% comes in third followed by Canada, The Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland and Japan although these latter markets are much smaller than the big three. White wines continue to dominate at 77% of total exports, with reds are holding their own at 14%. Sizeable growth has occurred with sparklings which could pass the NZ$30 million mark for the first time.
